Technologies
I would like to develop curricula where students are encouraged to help in the design of the activities and assignments, as well as explore how students use various web-based technologies, such as Smartphones and tablets, as well as social networking programs such as Google+ & Drive, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit, to communicate, write and research.
Community and Service-learning
In the area of service-learning and community-based projects, I plan to continue exploring how instructors incorporate issues such as race, ethnicity, whiteness, class and gender into their writing classrooms.
Writing Studies
As a teacher, I would like to continue working with freshmen and second language writers. I would also like to continue exploring different ways that I can teach using technologies, mainly web-based programs such as collaborative workspace programs like PBworks and presentation programs like Prezi. Web-based technologies such as these are important for students to learn how to use effectively and creatively in writing and in conducting research, because it allows them to think and reflect on how they write and broadens their perception of audience. I am curious to learn how students develop their identities based on their perceptions of race, class and gender. When including topics such as race, class and gender in the writing classroom, I design activity and assignment sequences that allows the students to approach, discuss and write about them constructively and usefully.
